The Why

Hot, heavy
and loud.

The blood, sweat, and tears — so you can live in the art we create. This is what we believe, who we are for, and what we refuse to be.

The Why

So you can live
in the art we create.

The landscape industry built itself on commodity. Mow-and-blow. Free quotes. Curb appeal. Before-and-after splits. We are not in that industry.

Scapes was founded on the idea that the outdoor environment of a home is the least understood, most undervalued surface in the entire property — and that when it is treated as architecture, as a continuous environment composed for use, the home becomes a different kind of asset entirely.

We do not sell yards. We sell the daily condition of arriving home. The way the property reads at dusk. The way a guest remembers the walk to the door. The way the tree planted in year one looks in year twenty. That is the work.

From the Founder · J Core

I served. What stayed with me wasn't the uniform. It was the standard.

Know your job. Train your people. Take responsibility for the ground beneath your feet. Never walk past something that isn't right.

That became part of Scapes.

Our crews are ours. Our knowledge is earned. And the landscapes we build are meant to be cared for long after the trucks pull away. Because ownership means more than having something. It means leaving it better than you found it.

— J Core, USMC · Gulf War veteran

What We Believe

Five non-negotiables.

Standards First
01

We do not dilute quality to increase volume.

We train to grow. We do not hire temporary labor. We do not staff up just to say yes. The number of properties we hold is the number of properties we can hold to the Scapes standard. That number grows slowly on purpose.
Built Once
02

Built once. Done for twenty.

With a proper budget, we take on a project with the intent that nobody touches it again for twenty years. Stone is set on base. Drainage is cut before plants are placed. Irrigation is buried, not stapled. Do it right once — and that is exactly what happens.
Honesty in Recovery
03

We tell you what can be saved before we tell you what to spend.

Scapes ICU™ exists because the alternative — replacing what could have been recovered — is dishonest. Plant life is capital. Saving it is our first move, not our last.
Veteran Discipline
04

The studio runs on USMC standards.

Jason is a Gulf War veteran. The crews are trained the way he was trained: preparation before action, documentation before execution, accountability after the work is done. There is no excuse-economy here.
I am Scapes
05

The brand is the team, not the founder.

Every crew member wears I am Scapes on the back of their shirt. It is the company's most important sentence. Scapes is not one person. It is the foreman with ten years. It is the apprentice in year one. It is the office. It is the photographer. It is everyone you meet on the property, and the work they do when no one is watching.

Begin

Where luxury takes root.

If the way we work matches the way you live, the conversation is short. Tell us about the property. We will write back within one business day.
