About · Scapes Environmental Design
The company is the crew.
Design, construction, and estate care on the Gulf Coast since 2000. Every back wears the same words. The founder takes the last seat.
Who We Are
Scapes is a luxury landscape studio that designs, builds, grows, and cares for the ground around the finest homes on the Gulf Coast — all of it, under one roof.
One company for the whole life of a landscape: the first sketch, the last stone, and every season after. No hand-offs, no subcontracted promises — the people who draw it are the people who stand on it.
The Arc
From a kid and a mower
to something worth building a life around.
It started the way a lot of good things do — small.
A kid. A mower. A ten-speed bike. Knocking on doors and hoping somebody would say yes.
There wasn't a business plan. There wasn't a brand. There was just the belief that if someone trusted me with their yard, I owed them good work.
One yard became another. Then another.
Scapes grew up slowly that way — through long days, mistakes, lessons, relationships, and a lot of people who trusted us before there was much reason to.
More than twenty-five years later, almost everything has changed. We design, build, care for, and continually rethink landscapes at a level I couldn't have imagined from the seat of that bike.
But the part that matters hasn't changed much at all.
Someone still hands us a piece of their home and trusts us to make it better.
That deserves something from us.
Care. Curiosity. Craft. The humility to keep learning. And the discipline to do the work right when nobody is watching.
We're still growing. Still experimenting. Still getting our hands dirty. Still chasing the next better way to do something we've done a thousand times.
Maybe that's the real story of Scapes.
We never outgrew the kid with the mower. We just gave him better tools.
Where it started — one yard at a time.
The Promise
One rule has run this company from the first yard to the last estate.
Do what we tell the customer we are going to do — and do it to the best of our ability.
The Creed
Every back on every crew reads the same words: I AM SCAPES.
We believe a company is the sum of its people — not the name of its founder. So the phrase rides on the back of every shirt: a reminder to the crew, and to anyone they meet, that Scapes is not defined by any one individual. Especially not the founder.
Jason Core founded Scapes and still sets the standard — a Marine, a builder, an operator, twenty-six years in. But the man stays in the background on purpose, so the work and the people who do it stand in front. The crew leads. The founder is found, not featured. That is the whole order of this place.
The Standard
Earn it first. Stay grounded.
I live a simple life on purpose. Not because simplicity is easy, but because it keeps my attention where it belongs.
The plants don't care what day it is. The weather doesn't care how I slept. The crew doesn't need excuses — they need leadership. So I show up. Every day. Not because someone is watching, but because that's the standard I've chosen for myself.
I've never believed leadership comes from a title or a corner office. It comes from carrying the same weight you ask everyone else to carry. If I expect discipline, I have to live it. If I expect craftsmanship, I have to practice it. If I expect pride in the work, it has to begin with me.
That's how Scapes was built.
Over time, those habits became a culture. Men and women who care about doing things the right way. People who understand that the job is more than landscaping — it's stewardship. It's leaving every property, every teammate, and every day better than we found it.
The landscapes are simply the evidence. The real work has always been building people.
Where to From Here
Two ways in.
Most people come to Scapes for one of two reasons — to have us build something, or to come build with us.
I AM SCAPES. We hire for grit and pride before résumés. If that is you, the door is open. Begin a career
