A statement is not enough. The site has to actually work — for the visitor who is keyboard-only, who runs a screen reader, who prefers reduced motion, who is on a phone in bright sun.

Our commitment

Scapes Environmental Design is committed to a website that meets WCAG 2.2 Level AA. We test on every release, on screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA, TalkBack), with keyboard-only navigation, and in high-contrast mode.

Where we fall short, we fix. Email TheStudio@gotscapes.com with anything that does not work for you — we will respond within five business days and remediate within thirty.

Site behavior

The site honors prefers-reduced-motion — animations are disabled when your operating system says so. Audio never autoplays. Video never autoplays with sound. Every interactive control has a visible focus state. Every image has an alt attribute, and decorative images are marked as such.

The intro film (The Arrival) plays once per session, can be skipped at any time with the keyboard or a click, and remembers your preference. Sound is opt-in; it is never gated.

Standards we hold to

WCAG 2.2 AA conformance, with target Level AAA on color contrast for body text.

Color contrast: body text is linen on charcoal — 11.4:1 contrast ratio. Eyebrow labels meet 4.5:1 minimum.

Type sizes do not go below 16px for body, 12px for metadata. Focus rings are 2px sandstone at 2px offset, restored on every interactive element.

Known limitations

The Anatomy of a Scapes Yard walk-through on the homepage is a visual experience. We provide a sibling list of the five moments for keyboard and screen-reader users.

Some hand-set type on the founder pages uses non-standard letter-spacing that screen-reader pronunciation may handle imperfectly. We have left these as visual moments; the surrounding prose covers the same content.

Alternative formats

If anything on this site is not usable to you in its current form, contact us. We will provide an alternative — a plain-text version, a phone walkthrough, an in-person studio visit. Nothing about this brand is more important than that the door is actually open.
