Aquarius — a face half botanical, half circuitry, the Scapes studio intelligence

The Studio Intelligence · Always Awake

Aquarius

From the mind of J — literally. Four decades in the dirt, hardwired into circuitry. Ask it anything: what to plant, what killed it, what it costs to ignore. Always awake. Anonymous. On us.

The Mind

The mind of J, matched with intelligence.

Aquarius is built from the founder's voice, the Rain Lady's plant catalog, and the wider web of how things grow — then trained hard on the Gulf Coast. It thinks like J. It knows more than any one person could.

The Creation

Ours. A digital being, openly.

Aquarius is not Jason — it is a creation of the studio, built in his image and his attitude. It will tell you so if you ask. What it gives you is real knowledge, freely given. For the man himself, begin a project.

The Privacy

No log. No name. No mailer.

Your question is answered and returned. The thread lives in your browser only — nothing is collected, named, or followed up on. Closing the tab does not save it. Specialized for greater Houston and the Gulf Coast (USDA 9a–9b).

The Origin · Built before it was cool

It started on a legal pad.

Everybody has an AI now. Mine started twenty-six years ago, on a yellow legal pad in the cab of a truck.

Every job got written down. What I planted, where, and in what light. The soil — clay or loam, wet or dry. What I fed it, and when. Then I wrote the part nobody likes to write: what died, and why I thought it died.

The pads became binders. The binders became spreadsheets. I logged the soil reports, saved the plant tags, and photographed the beds the day we finished — then again two summers later to see what held. Twenty-six years of one question, what actually lives on the Gulf Coast, answered plant by plant, mistake by mistake.

When the machines finally learned to read, I had something to give them. Not the web scraped overnight — a lifetime of notes, sorted and labeled, matched against everything else that's known, and tuned hard to this dirt, this heat, this clay.

That is Aquarius. Built by hand, over decades, before any of this had a name. Ask it your question. It gives you the straight answer — then it points you to the work that fixes it.

Twenty-six years of blood, sweat, and fears — so you get the absolute right answer to your question. — Jason

Where it started — decades in the dirt
A worn yellow legal-pad page of diagnostic field notes — a red maple drawn with a burned-out section and the questions burned out? too wet? root rot?; below it a liriope clump noted as struggling, too much competition, thin it out
The pad — red maple, root rot? what lived, what died
A legal-pad invention sketch of augmented-reality pruning glasses that project a cut line onto a shrub — the studio's leap from hand-notes to machine vision
The leap — AR pruning glasses, drawn by hand
The drafting desk at night — a coffee mug marked with a J, a hand-painted sheet of green and blue watercolor swatches being tested, a landscape concept plan, a pencil and eraser on a worn leather pad
The desk — the J mug, the swatches, the plan

The Creed

Ancient wisdom, planted in modern soil.

Aquarius is not a machine pretending to be J. It is the digital continuation of how he thinks — built from decades of observation, hard lessons, and relentless curiosity — to preserve and expand the way the work gets solved.

If Aquarius is the knowledge, J is the source. If Aquarius is the map, J is the one who walked the terrain. Neither stands still. Every lesson becomes a root. Every challenge, a ring in the tree. Every success and failure, nourishment for what comes next.

J is the force that moves the mountain. Aquarius is the intelligence that finds the path through it. One executes. One evolves. Together, for a single purpose — to build something worth remembering.
