For many years we did exactly what most landscape companies do. We showed up, cut the grass, edged the walks, blew off the driveway, collected a check, and moved on to the next property. The lawn looked better for a few days. But the real problems stayed.

• The grass was still starving for nutrients.
• The irrigation system was still broken.
• The soil was still compacted.
• The beds were still drying out.
• The weeds were still coming.
• The property was still slowly declining.

Twenty-six years in this industry taught us one thing plainly: mowing does not create a great lawn. It trims whatever is already there.

A mower cannot fix poor soil. It cannot fix a broken sprinkler. It cannot build healthy roots. It cannot make grass green. A mower is one tool in a much larger system.

When we maintain a property, we are not agreeing to cut grass.

If you are looking for cheap mowing

If your goal is simply the lowest price for someone to cut the grass, there are plenty of companies that can help — and we are happy to recommend a few good ones. There are many hardworking mowing companies in our market, and for some properties that is exactly what is needed.

That is simply not the business Scapes is in anymore. Our focus has moved to estates, large residential properties, associations, commercial campuses, and homeowners who want comprehensive landscape care. We are not competing to be the cheapest. We are here to deliver the best long-term outcome.

Why we require the full program

There is another reason. Our trucks are parked in front of your property every week. Our crews are working there. Our name is on that landscape, and we take that responsibility seriously.

If a lawn is cut cheaply, not fed, not watered right, and slowly declining, the landscape shows it. The grass turns pale. The beds thin out. The plants struggle. The property starts to look neglected — while our trucks sit right in front of it. That does not work for us.

A landscape should improve under our care, not simply survive.

That is why fertilization, irrigation oversight, seasonal services, and proactive maintenance are not optional add-ons. They are the program. Because a Scapes property should look like a Scapes property.
